Tiananmen Square, 20 Years Later

There’s a saying that goes “History is written by the victors.”

But thanks to the 24-hour news cycle, the Internet, and globalization, even as the government of the PRC tries to revise history of Tiananmen Square, the rest of the world hasn’t.  And while it is disheartening that the younger generation isn’t being taught accurately its own history, eventually these young people will.

The big question, however, is once they *do* learn of events like Tiananmen Square, will they even care?

I don’t know the answer to that.

About lizardqueen

If single-mothering were a paid job, I'd be rich. However, it doesn't, so I write (which doesn't pay the bills) and teach (which does). I'm overly-educated in the liberal arts, but that doesn't hinder my ability to be pragmatic and realistic. YAY.
