The Irony of It All

Is it socialism if the free-market ASKS the government for billions of money, instead of — like Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro — the government simply takes over those markets?

Isn’t it funny that the largest nationalism of the U.S. economy — first the financial markets, now even the automotive industry — is happening under the aegis of the reddest of Republican administrations?

Red, Blue — it doesn’t seem to matter when we’re *all* economically screwed.  So, to quote two old cliches: E pluribus unum.  United we stand, divided we fall.

Welcome to today’s America, folks.  It ain’t the 20th Century anymore and so 20th Century thinking isn’t going to get us out of this.

About lizardqueen

If single-mothering were a paid job, I'd be rich. However, it doesn't, so I write (which doesn't pay the bills) and teach (which does). I'm overly-educated in the liberal arts, but that doesn't hinder my ability to be pragmatic and realistic. YAY.
