National Endowment of the Arts, BABY!

Okay, okay, I’m feeling kind of — SQUEEE!!! — right now.  The three-day literary event that I’ve been working on for my college since March is now listed at the National Endowment of the Arts’ the BIG READ website:

10/13: Coffee Talk
10/14: The Role of Science Fiction in Society
10/15: Writing Contest

For folks near east Dallas, you can also attend various Big Read events around Mesquite in September and October:

  1. Go here: http://neabigread.org/events.php
  2. Under the “Communities” drop down menu, choose “TX-Mesquite Arts Center”
  3. Click the “Filter Results (Search)” button.
  4. Scroll down the screen.

Coincidentally, if that’s too far east for folks, my home city, Irving, is *also* holding its own Big Read programs, pretty much at the same time.  But instead of the novel Fahrenheit 451, its common book is The Maltese Falcon:

  1. Go here: http://neabigread.org/events.php
  2. Under the “Communities” drop down menu, choose “TX-Irving Public Library”
  3. Click the “Filter Results (Search)” button.
  4. Scroll down the screen.

Have fun reading, attending, and discussing, folks!

About lizardqueen

If single-mothering were a paid job, I'd be rich. However, it doesn't, so I write (which doesn't pay the bills) and teach (which does). I'm overly-educated in the liberal arts, but that doesn't hinder my ability to be pragmatic and realistic. YAY.
