Gratuitious Plug for My School

First, here’s the article, “A No-Fail Career In Just Two Years” — that is, careers after two years of undergraduate work, awarded with an Associate’s Degree.

Two of the careers listed are Preschool Teacher and Automotive Technician.

Well… if you happen to be interested in those two careers, you live in the DFW-area (especially east of the the city of Dallas), and you don’t have a degree already, then you might be interested in the school that I happen to teach at: Eastfield College.   Here’s why:

1) Nationally recognized Automotive Technology program, partnered with local area Toyota dealerships.

2) On-site, hands-on Child Development center, with a state and nationally accredited program.

Of course, as a teacher in the liberal arts program, I would like to have a student become an English major every once and awhile.  But in this economy these days — and at a public community college — that’s not likely to happen very often.  So I’m just hoping that, when those non-liberal arts students complete my class or classes, get their Associate’s degree, and start working, they’re able to communicate effectively in their lives and appreciate a good yarn or two.

If single-mothering were a paid job, I'd be rich. However, it doesn't, so I write (which doesn't pay the bills) and teach (which does). I'm overly-educated in the liberal arts, but that doesn't hinder my ability to be pragmatic and realistic. YAY.
