Mother’s Day

I hope everyone had a lovely Mother’s Day.  🙂

Mine was bookended with marathon grading — early in the morning and just now (just a quarter before 11pm) finishing the last of it and posted online.  ::whew::  Technology is wunderbar, but there’s always that irrational paranoia that the DCCCD district server will be down and I won’t be able to meet deadline for posting these dang grades.

Anyways — between grading, the Hubby, Daniel, and I headed to my folks’ house for the annual Mother’s Day late lunch and TV watching.  This time it was homemade Filipino fare and the Lakers/Jazz playoffs (with my folks rooting for the Jazz).  But the high point of the visit was seeing my mom playing horsey with Daniel — Daniel sitting on my mom’s tummy as my mom held his hands out, bouncing him around as he giggled.

I didn’t think to take a picture or a video of it; I just stood back, with this silly little smile on my face, seeing an obviously overjoyed grandmother being with her baby grandson.

It’s a moment like that, that remind me how wondrous it is to be a mother.  For me, above everything else, that was *my* Mother’s Day gift.

Cheers… and goodnight.

If single-mothering were a paid job, I'd be rich. However, it doesn't, so I write (which doesn't pay the bills) and teach (which does). I'm overly-educated in the liberal arts, but that doesn't hinder my ability to be pragmatic and realistic. YAY.
