Baby Milestones

Daniel will be moving to the Infant II room at his daycare, starting Monday.

What that means is this: Daniel’s close to being six months old now. If one used the strict, four-week lunar calendar to be a month, then he’ll be six months’ old this coming Thursday.

When did all of those months go by? It only seemed just a few weeks ago that I got back to work from maternity leave… that Daniel was born… that I was pregnant….

I still remember how it feels to give birth and being unpleasantly surprised that the multi-week recovery from giving birth is actually more painful than the actual birthing. And yet, even that pain is worth it, to see Daniel’s face, to see his first smile, to hear his first laugh.

He’s starting to eat rice cereal now — eating it, as opposed to painting his face with it. ::grin:: To see him crawl… to walk… to talk…

Those milestones will come soon enough. I look forward to them.

I look forward to all of them.

About lizardqueen

If single-mothering were a paid job, I'd be rich. However, it doesn't, so I write (which doesn't pay the bills) and teach (which does). I'm overly-educated in the liberal arts, but that doesn't hinder my ability to be pragmatic and realistic. YAY.
