In this course students refine the writing, research, and reading skills introduced in English 1301. A related goal is the development of critical thinking skills. Writing assignments emphasize argumentation and persuasion. Students will also write a formal research paper.
— then I dropped any literature in this course for issues-based non-fiction, written and audio-visual. This decision was with much thought because I *love* literature; afterall, I have a Ph.D. in it. But this course isn’t a lit survey course (although many Comp II textbooks are lit readers); it’s an argumentative and critical thinking skills course, with the aim of writing a research paper. Hence, my redesign that is very documentary-heavy.
This semester my Comp II students will be guinea pigs, as I try out this redesign. I hope it works out well! ::fingers crossed::
