First off, the trip up was relatively relaxing, split between two days, and even the insanity that was the ChicagoLand area turnpike system was tolerable, thanks to Eddie Izzard comic CDs. Second, K’Zoo itself was awesome (as usual) — good sessions, the surreal nature of being surrounded by medievalists congregating in one place — en masse like bees to honey — good company, including old friends and acquaintances. Even though the martial arts demos were cancelled (the folks doing the demos couldn’t make it at the last minute), the sessions, all in all, was good, including, I must say, the Bunny’s. ::grin::
What durn near killed *me* was the drive back — non-stop, and probably not as bad if it weren’t for the flat tire 30 minutes outside of Chicago, and Pep Boys taking *three freakin’ hours* to get the thing replaced. Pushed back the ETA DFW time to insane, wee-hours level such that Boxing Alcibiades, the Bunny, and yours truly rolled into the Metroplex just as the beginnings of Monday morning rush hour traffic was waking up.
And BA and I had to go to work today. Hell, we’re *still* at work, with mounds and mounds and mounds of shtoof to do. My grading schedule this week is one big steaming pile of BLEAH, and I’m typing this during my at-my-desk lunch break before I finish up the Brit Lit essay grading and then head out to administer my Comp I Final Exam (where I will be grading my Comp II papers as my Comp I students take the test).
Gawd, I need coffee… and Mucinex… and maybe more Robitussin wouldn’t hurt….
And there’s still savate training tonight.
