Infinitely Large Solar Furnace

I’ve volunteered to build a small experimental solar furnace for my housemate, which he’s been hankering to make for a while now but has gotten low on his priority list. Since I think this stuff is pretty cool, I like power tools (woo-hoo!), and I’m not teaching this summer, I figured, “Why not?”

Here’s the link to make it by the way:

It’s all done with mirrors… lots and lots of little one inch mirrors, all reflecting sunlight on one very bright, very hot focal point. Think of a satellite dish and radio waves, and just coat that dish with mirrors and substite photons for radio waves. Woo-hoo!

Let’s go and heat up some tea!

About lizardqueen

If single-mothering were a paid job, I'd be rich. However, it doesn't, so I write (which doesn't pay the bills) and teach (which does). I'm overly-educated in the liberal arts, but that doesn't hinder my ability to be pragmatic and realistic. YAY.
