The Lizard Queen’s Sunday was taken up celebrating with her family — including folks from out of town — her uncle’s 25th anniversary as a priest.
Now, my husband called our wedding last summer “My Big Fat Filipino Wedding” after that movie “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”, and he’s not kidding. Our guest list of 50 or so folks expanded to nearly 150 because of my side of the family and my parents old family friends, all of whom are Filipino. My dad’s one of five kids, but he has *tons* of cousins, and my mom’s one of nine kids, and her cousins are even *more*. And me, I’m one of four, and I can’t even count how many cousins, aunties, and uncles I have.
So, the Lizard Queen’s a little tired right now, and, no she doesn’t need more shoes right now, thank you…*
*I’m not kidding about the shoes thing. You thought Imelda was an anomaly? Hah, yesterday I heard my two cousins, my mom, my dad, and my uncle talk about shoes for nearly an hour. As my husband says, “What’s this with Filipinos and shoes, anyways?!”
